Director's Welcome
Successful partnerships are ‘win-win' situations that require give-and-take from all involved…. Partnerships are often fairly easy to establish, but require on-going support and involvement to sustain…. Because forming partnerships can be frustrating, especially in the early stages, successes need to be planned early on as a reward for the time and effort
invested. –KATE KITCHELL & JOE DRAAYENBRINK, Power of Partnerships Handbook, 1992
This quote was obtained with permission from the American
Trails website. It speaks to the power and importance of
partnerships as they are built on shared interests, mutual recognition
of values, taking risks and realizing rewards. At the same time,
partnerships require time and effort based on "give and take",
ongoing communication and the realization that outcomes must be
balanced.
The Office of Educational Partnerships is uniquely positioned to work
with corporate and community organizations, professional associations,
educational institutions and governmental agencies to build pre-college
engineering education programs. We have a history via each of our
existing programs that speaks to what can be accomplished when working
with appropriate partnering organizations and dedicated, talented
individuals.
I encourage you to also visit the
Office of Diversity and the Office
of Women in Engineering and Computer Science which together
(with our Office of Educational Partnerships) form CECS
Outreach. Should you have any questions, suggestions or input
regarding the development of new programs or our office's existing
programs, please contact me via
e-mail or call at (407) 823-4927.
Thank you!
