University of Central Florida
College of Engineering and Computer Science
UCF-CECS's Engineering Futures Forum consists of a two-hour program to acquaint pre-college
students with what engineering is, information about engineering futures (from
professional engineers) and learn about engineering degree programs
available at UCF's College of Engineering and Computer Science.
In the 2005 ASME "Why
Engineering Survey", UCF-CECS learned that 84% of the practicing
engineers that participated indicated they did not have an engineer visit
their classroom during their pre-college education. Those who had an
engineer visit their classroom indicated the experience had a direct impact
on their decision to purse engineering. In realizing every student
should have an opportunity to learn more about an engineering career,
UCF-CECS made a commitment to work area elementary, middle and high schools
to bring practicing engineers to meet with their students.
Learn about the engineering companies that have helped to make the forum possible and
how to stay informed
should your school wish to be involved in our forum program.
